Grab Your Binoculars!

There is no doubt that this riverway is filled with animals of sorts, but if you are a bird enthusiast you have found your haven! The Namekagon River is home to many different bird "hot spots" year round. Along this natural corridor one could see a number of different birds - from the great blue heron to American coots and variety in between!

In the Spring, the ice breakup along the river will bring in different types of migrating waterfowl as well as the iconic bald eagle. Throughout the summer months, especially in June, one will see how this beautiful riverway turns into a breeding area filled with nesting birds. During the beautiful fall months, watch for flocks of migrating hawks. And, during the winter you may spot trumpeter swans and bald eagles near the open water areas.
