This will be the 8th Annual Great Namekagon River Clean Up. In the beginning the cleaning took place on the river stretch from Hayward to Trego. The clean up has since expanded to clean from Lake Namekagon down to Trego. Last year, there was nearly 100 volunteers! People can participate either by walking and cleaning (for example, at the landings) or by getting into a water craft and cleaning a section of the river. Trash is accumulated at the various landings and then deposited at the park headquarters, Namekagon River Visitor Center in Trego, at the end of the day. The amount of trash collected is a telling sign that we need to do all that we can to preserve our beautiful national park.

Anyone wanting to participate has to show up dressed for the day and the rest will be covered – tools, bags, water, & snacks!
